If you’re visiting Siargao for the first time, General Luna is the best place to stay. There’s loads of restaurants, cafes and bars to choose from. Surfing lessons for any level are easily available and at night there is always something going on.

General Luna is a relatively compact town and is divided in 2 sections. The main part of town has the largest concentration of amenities and nightlife. The cloud 9 surf break is away from the main tourist strip and is more laid back with not much going on after the sun goes down. If you’ll be renting a scooter it won’t really matter because everything within General Luna will be within a 5 minute ride.

Area: North Siargao

An isolated concrete road passing through loads of palm trees

Pacifico, Burgos and Alegria are all seaside villages in Northeast Siargao. But when searching where to stay in Siargao, the fame and entertainment in General Luna always takes over so not many people ever get to experience this part of the island. But for any one searching for the place to stay in Siargao to experience real island life, this part of the island is pretty close to that.

The long stretches of white sand beach lined with waving palms are mostly deserted. Accommodation is dotted along the road that passes through hundreds of coconut trees. And for some reason in each village you’ll find these hip cafes that serve really good vegan dishes and smoothies. Tak-Tak Falls, riding a motorbike through the coconut road and if you feel adventurous go to little Hawaii are some off the things to do in North Siargao. Also at night you’ll see the fireflies even in the street as it will be deserted.

I have grouped all 3 villages (Pacifico, Burgos and Alegria) together because they’re all close to each other. My suggestion is to have a scooter if you come here because everything is spread out.

Izustarri

Places to stay in Siargao. A villa perched on a cliff by the sea

Rating: 9.3 out of 10 stars | Price: ₱4800 ($85)

Perched on cliff between Pacifico and Burgos Izustarri offers sweeping ocean views and breathtaking scenes as the sun goes down. It’s one of the best places to stay in north Siargao for couples. The air conditioned rooms have a mix of industrial and soft furnishings and onsite there’s also a games room and restaurant with bar.

Pacifico is a 10 minutes drive. Burgos is just 4 minutes down the road where you’ll find The Hub by Local, a hip cafe serving creative vegan food. I’m no vegan but this place is really good definitely try it if you’re passing by.

Corregidor Island

A sun lounger and umbrella on a tropical beach

If the hustle and bustle in General Luna is too much, why not hop on a boat and leave Siargao. Just off the coast of General Luna there’s an archipelago of islands. Some are big and have lagoons in them and others are small or just sandbars. One of them is Corregidor island. It’s just 4 km from the mainland and there’s almost nothing on the island. Just a resort on the edge of the jungle and spilling onto a stretch of white sandy beach with clear waters. For anyone that want peace and quiet, it doesn’t get much better than this. The resort will organize your pick up either from General Luna or from the port in Dapa. you can check your dates here.
